Being the Ambassador of monsterkind often came with difficult decisions. Frisk had lost count of the sheer number of times they’d been forced to decide between a rock and a hard place since the monsters had surfaced. But if they had to name any of those as the toughest, then the offer that Artemis Fowl had made was at the top of their list. They weren’t sure where to even start with this one. On the one hand… they desperately needed information on the fairies, more than what they had right now. Their mind-wipe and their subsequent “rescue” by the fairies had shown them that they just couldn’t assume things about the other magical race, not if they didn’t want their assumptions to come back and bite them in the rear. Being given information about everything the fairies could do, both with their magic and their technology (and Frisk made a mental note that if they and the monsters agreed to Artemis’s terms, they should ask for info concerning different fairy races as well

Frisk had been reluctant, at first, to leave the barn, and therefore the twins, despite knowing that putting off what needed to be done would do no-one any favors. Sometime between their panic attack in the garden and waking up with horrible nightmares during the night, they realized, they’d come to view Myles and Beckett as a sort of safe-haven; the boys knew one of their biggest, dirtiest secrets, offered their shoulders for them to cry on (literally), and nobody, human, fairy, or monster had tried to bother them since they’d begun spending more and more time with the younger Fowls. Shattering that peace the twins offered and returning to the real world, where terrorist organizations, mind-wiping fairies, and monster-hating extremists roamed, was harder than they’d thought it would be. The rest of the day passed by quietly after that. Quiet probably wasn’t the best word to use, considering Frisk spent a good chunk of time talking to people, or listening to others talk if they didn’t feel like talking. But it was the one they felt fit the best. After such a hectic morning, and with them still feeling a bit on the numb side emotionally speaking, the rest of the day just felt… quiet. No bringing up the ghosts of the past. No Fowls or fairies demanding answers. No cold words. No horrible memories brought up except those in the privacy of their own head. Just… them quietly in the world, with no-one but the occupants of the manor to worry about. Roots freshly planted in garden soil, Flowey scowled up at a window on the manor’s second story. “That your bedroom, smarty-pants?” Myles nodded. “Yes – the candy should be in the drawers near the window.” Grumbling a little under his breath, the flower monster sprouted red-thorned vines and reached up, pushing open the ajar windowpane and rummaging around inside the room behind it. Then with an “a-ha!” the monster’s vines emerged with several plastic-wrapped candies, and dropped them unceremoniously from the second story and onto Frisk’s head. “There! Hurry up and eat the candy already!” Numbly, Frisk, who had been sitting in the grass watching the monster do his thing, unwrapped one of the little morsels and popped it into their mouth. Undyne had seriously considered following Frisk when they’d left with the homicidal flower in tow. Normally, she wouldn’t have bothered – the kid was a wimp, but they were a wimp that was good at dodging. And with the stupid flower with them, they could handle any attack no matter where it came from, regardless of where they were. But Frisk was a wimp, emotionally as well as physically. They were her wimpy friend, damn it, her friend who looked more scared of whatever it was they were going to talk to that Fowl bastard about than the possibility of getting jumped. The same bastard that had pried into their memories and helped alter them. Myles had been prepared for many things when he and Beckett had gone to eavesdrop on Frisk’s conversation with their elder brother and the fairies. But there were some things a person just couldn’t prepare for... and just about everything that they had overheard and witnessed for themselves was something they were very much unprepared for.
